Is A Lazy Boy Worth The Money?

La-Z-Boy is a fantastic brand of comfortable relaxing furniture that does make you want to be a La-Z-Boy for sure.

If you are a fan of the TV show ‘Friends’ then you will certainly recognize the name, but we have to wonder, for the price you will pay for some La-Z-boy furniture, is it really as good as it seems in that show?

Should you spend the money? And, will you end up sinking into it, with all of your troubles in the world sinking away?

Is A Lazy Boy Worth The Money?

La-Z-Boy is well known for their recliners, however, over time they have further expanded in the market to include many other items, such as mattresses, sofas, accent chairs, bed, love seats, and much more.

Many consumers may view La-Z-Boy as being more pricey than most other furniture, and while they are above the price point of most discount furniture, when it comes to quality they are in the same cost bracket as most other furniture retailers.

La-Z-Boy also offers more of a high-value for the price, and this is a trait that extends into their full catalog. Generally customers of La-Z-Boy only have good things to say, of course there will always be one or two negative reviews, but that can happen with anything.

No one and nothing is perfect. As a rating, La-Z-Boy has an overall score of 8.3 out of 10, with a customer satisfaction rating  of 8 out of 10. Typically, their prices can range from $69 to $5107 or more, depending on what item of furniture you are buying.

So, whether La-Z-Boy is worth the money or not is really an issue of personal preference. If you are the kind of person who really values their couch, who enjoys their relaxing time splayed out on the couch, binge-watching Netflix then La-Z-Boy may well be worth the money for you.

However, if you do not spend so much time chilling out on your comfort furniture, and you just want a standard couch that will support you when you sit down for the occasional movie night, you might want to consider other options.

Are lazy boy recliners overpriced?

The level of what is expensive and what is not is very personal. If someone is low income and another person is high income, they will have different definitions of expense and what is considered overpriced.

When it comes to the recliners though, many would float around between ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

The La-Z-Boy recliner has lived quite the life, generally only being slightly more expensive that renting a hospital bed. Why do we use this comparison?

Well, the use of a recliner as a form of medical furniture is about as much of a dystopian hack as returning recliners to their 19th-Century advent, as patent furniture for medical use.

Not that they are not still used as medical furniture in some cases. For example, if work leaves you suffering with back pain, then note that the American Chiropractic Association has endorsed La-Z-Boy reclining furniture.

But, are they overpriced? Well, no, not really. Not when you compare their quality, and use to other options of their type.

Do not forget that whenever you buy anything these days, you often also pay for the brand name, and La-Z-Boy is no different to any other furniture retailer in this sense.

But what you get with the La-Z-Boy name is a great reputation, comfort, and the reclining support that is raised up as being medically useful. A good way to view if they are overpriced is to compare.

So, let's look at the Vail Rocking Recliner by La-Z-Boy, its general price is $999, however on sale it is $499. In comparison, we have the cheaper, budget option of Walmart's own ‘Serta Push-Button Power Recliner’, which is nowhere near as aesthetic or high tech as La-Z-Boy, which is $279.

Similarly, you could get the ‘Signature Design by Ashley’ from JCPenney for $299, or you could get the ‘La-Z-Boy Casey Rocking Recliner’ for $399. While La-Z-Boy is definitely more expensive, you get more features and more quality.

To conclude, La-Z-Boy is not overpriced, it is simply a case of ‘you get what you pay for.’

Are lazy boy sofas good quality?

While most people will recognize La-Z-Boy for their oh-so-relaxing recliners, they have expanded into more furniture types. La-Z-Boy may not be the first brand that comes to mind when you go to buy a new sofa, but… should it be?

La-Z-Boy has more than a dozen models for sectionals, what makes these great is they are customizable, you can select the upholstery, color, configuration, cushion type, leg style, and you can even add power recliners to them as well.

This alone expands their level of quality, who does not want full unique and customizable furniture options that make their living space feel like a personally designed haven?

The sectionals can cost anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000. However, when it comes to their sofas, they have even more to offer.

La-Z-Boy sells loveseats and sofas that can include small apartment sized options. You can get power or manual recline options, stationary couched and even sleeper sofas. Their price range is super open too from just $800 all the way to $5,000 or more.

These are also just as customizable as the sectionals. There is very little that people have to say against La-Z-Boy sofas. While they can be slightly more costly than other alternatives, the quality and customization is known for making up for this.

You get a fully uniquely customizable couch that fits into your home's aesthetic perfectly, while also getting high-quality comfort when you kick back and relax after a long and dreary day at the office.

In fact, the only real negative thing anyone has ever had to say about these couches is that they are higher in price than other moderately priced alternatives. But, when you can customize your couch as much as this and even add a recline option, the quality definitely matches the cost.
